Peter's Experience

Peter Bartsch, Consultant Metallurgist and Director of Alchemides Pty.Ltd., graduated as a Metallurgist in South Australia and has over 38 years experience in metal extraction and minerals processing industries,  including commissioning and ramp-up of facilities.

Peter's capability covers most traded commodity metals and he has contributed to evaluations for many organisations through management of investigations and designs, which included technology leadership across feasibility studies and project delivery. Peter has also coordinated international missions for the International Atomic Energy Agency.

 

During the course of his career as a consultant metallurgist, Peter has published technical articles in a range of metallurgical process fields.

With expertise in technical management, engineering design, and process investigations for plant improvements, as well as flowsheet optimization across capital projects, Peter is proficient in management at all levels of metallurgical businesses and technology leadership.

His capability includes Iron Ores, Uranium, Copper, Bauxite and Alumina, Gold and Silver, Graphite, Nickel and Cobalt, Lead and Zinc, Tin, Mineral Sands, Industrial Minerals, and Rare Earths.

 

Peter's proficiencies include:

Comminution;  Crushing, screening and ore handling, FAG, SAG, rod & ball milling, scrubbing, classification, screening, HPRC, ore breakage analysis, energy conservation and size optimization.

 

Mineral beneficiation; mineral analysis, pelletization and agglomeration, gravity, heavy media and magnetic separation, flotation of sulphide, silicate and oxide ores, hydraulic and cyclonic classification, slurry characterisation and rheology, tailings management, thickening and filtration.

 

Pyrometallurgy; blast and TSL smelting; carbon, electric, thermic and direct reduction; sintering, roasting, drying and calcining; fire, liquation and electro-refining, feed preparation and granulation.

 

Hydrometallurgy; Heap, Dump or Agitated Leaching, Digestion and Slurry Heat Exchange, CIP/CIL, HPAL, thickening, filtration, neutralization, clarification, purification, solvent extraction, ion exchange & RIP, electrowinning, metathesis, crystalization, softening, mixing and agitation, high-density sludge and slurry handling.

Lachlan's Experience

Lachlan Bartsch Consulting Metallurgist at Alchemides Pty.Ltd., graduated as a Metallurgist in Victroia and has over 10 years experience in the metal extraction and minerals processing industries. Lachlan has held roles as Chief Engineer, Project Engineer, Area Manager, Process Engineer and various operational plant roles.

Lachlan has wide ranging experience from plant operations and management through to engineering design, planning and management of fundamental research. He has comprehensive experience in project engineering and management, expertise in extractive metallurgy operations, project design and a strong foundation of metallurgical process knowledge. Lachlan's has experience in management and execution of feasibility, prefeasibility and concept studies across a broad range of commodities.

Lachlan's communication skills and international project experience make him ideally suited to work within, and manage, complex multi-discipline projects.
